Romania

 Introduction

A

Country of

Contrasts

David with a small team first visited Romania in 1992 with a large lorry load of aid visiting a number of churches and orphanages around the country. He spent most of his time in Bucharest which was still far from recovery after the communist racism which fell in December 1989. He spent time travelling to Constanta a holiday seaside resort on the East coast on the Black Sea and back down to Criova. He then returned to England by travelling around the north of the country, leaving through Aradia, via Hungary. David gained a great insight into the Romanian culture, visiting a number of churches of various denominations.

In 2003 David now married to Chris who also had been supporting Romania since the racism fell, visited a young minister and his family who they were supporting in the town of Targu Jiu in south west Romania bringing much support and encouragement. Then in 2004 through a Christian couple from England working with the young couple in their church, were introduced to a member of a Christian Orphanage in the next village, which for David and Chris the focus was to become a significant part their future mission.
