Genesis

Introduction

Genesis is the first book in the bible and means the book of beginnings. It is the first of five books written by Moses commonly referred to as the Pentateuch. Genesis tells us how God created the entire universe, including the earth, man and all that is living on it.

We read that God instructed man who we know as Adam to till the ground, and have control over all the creatures. But He also created man for His pleasure, and companionship, for in the last book of the bible, Revelations 4:11 (KJV) we read ”Thou art worthy O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power, for thou hast created all things, and for thy  pleasure they are and were created."

Very soon we read that the woman (Eve) that God had given Adam as his earthly companion was deceived by miss quoted words, disobeyed God through one of Gods fallen angels Lucifer, who is commonly known as Satan. All the creation on the earth was effected. The relationship between man and God was severed, mankind became rebellious, as animals becoming fearful, and all kinds of unruly plants began to grow on the earth. God threw the man and woman out of the garden he had made for them, and from then on Satan had freedom to influence all mankind and creation.

In later chapters we read how nation of Israel was conceived, through Abraham, and through his son Jacob, who’s  name God changed to Israel. He had twelve sons commonly referred to as the twelve tribes of Israel.
